A group of ten found guilty of cyber-bullying targeting Brigitte Macron

A court in Paris has found guilty ten people for carrying out the digital intimidation of Brigitte Macron, the partner of the President of France, Emmanuel Macron.
The accused individuals faced accusations of spreading false claims regarding her gender and sexual orientation, in addition to publishing hurtful comments about the husband and wife's 24-year age gap.
The court delivered suspended prison sentences of as much as eight months to the convicted individuals. The detailed judgment has not yet been published.
A longstanding unfounded claim claiming that Brigitte Macron is a person assigned male at birth has been in circulation since her husband's first electoral victory in 2017.
This latest legal outcome in France coincides with the Macrons initiating a legal action for defamation in the United States against political commentator Candace Owens, who has also voiced analogous false narratives about the French president's wife's biological sex.
Their complaint contends that Owens ignored all credible evidence that refuted her assertions opting to amplify the voices of notorious conspiracy peddlers.
Owens has often echoed these allegations on her podcast and social media channels, and in March 2024 proclaimed that she would bet her whole career on her belief that Mrs. Macron is biologically male.
Brigitte Macron first met her now-husband when she worked as an educator at his lycée.
The two married in 2007, when the future French president was 29 and she was in her mid-50s.
