Ex- BBC Advisers Undergo Parliamentary Questioning After Allegations of Partiality in Leaked Document

Former British Broadcasting Corporation consultants speaking before MPs

We open with queries from Conservative MP the panel's head, who chairs the panel.

She commences by offering context to the unauthorized memo prepared by Michael Prescott and published in a national newspaper.

"I don't want the British Broadcasting Corporation slanting in any particular direction, My only wish is for it neutral, fair and equitable," he states.

In response to a query whether he thinks the British Broadcasting Corporation is institutionally biased, he answers: "No, I do not. Let's be clear, tons of stuff the BBC creates is exceptional - encompassing documentary and entertainment content."

But he adds: "There is substantial tasks that requires attention at the British Broadcasting Corporation."

A further ex-adviser BBC adviser examined by the committee, Caroline Daniel, states she takes the BBC very seriously and that it operates a "persistent practice and lively discussion" on fluid and multifaceted issues.

"Was the BBC prepared to have a genuine discussion and exchange and implement changes?" she asks herself. "In my view, indeed, they were."
