Fall Classic Final Game Captures 51M Audience Members Across the US, Canada and Japanese Regions.

The exciting extended matchup where the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Blue Jays by one run attracted a total 51 million viewers in the United States, Canada, and Japanese territories. MLB announced this represents the highest-rated Fall Classic Game 7 since the 1991 edition contest between the Minnesota Twins and Braves.

Broadcast Ratings Details

The Saturday memorable game secured over 27 million audience members on Fox networks, Fox Deportes and their streaming platforms. Per ratings data, it was the second most-watched broadcast of the previous week.

It also stands as the most-watched Fall Classic game after the 2017 edition final game between the Dodgers and Astros, which drew over 29 million. This marks a 16% improvement compared to the previous Game 7 between the Washington Nationals and Houston Astros, which attracted 23.19 million.

In the Nielsen ratings, the sixth game placed fourth, Game 4 was 7th, the fifth game was 8th, and the third game finished in thirteenth position.

International Audience Numbers

In Canada, the game recorded over 11 million watchers on Sportsnet and the French TVA Sports channel. This made it the highest-rated English broadcast in Canada after the 2010 edition Winter Olympics.

In Japan, where the deciding game started at 9 PM local time, it drew 12 million. This came after last Friday’s Game 6 – in which World Series MVP Yoshinobu Yamamoto gave up one run in six innings – averaged 13.1 million viewers, making it the most-watched Fall Classic game on a single network in the country.

Overall Totals and Trends

The entire seven-game series recorded over 15.7 million audience members on Fox, a 2% increase from the previous year’s Dodgers-Yankees series. This represents the first time since 2015 and 2016 that the World Series has seen viewership growth for two consecutive years.

Including the opening game broadcast on the Univision network, the total American average reached over 16 million. The total Fall Classic average in Japan was 9.7 million and 8.1M in Canada.

The full MLB Postseason on Fox and its sister channels drew 8.09M watchers, an 8% rise compared to last year and the network’s best postseason ratings since 2017.

MLB stated that the Fall Classic was broadcast in over 200 countries and territories by forty-four media partners in sixteen different languages.
