Iranian Forces State Strike on US Base in Bahrain, Amid Widespread Military Operations.
Iranian forces say they have struck a American military facility in Bahrain, as Iran launched operations throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a large-scale and ongoing offensive against it by the US and Israel.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an vicinity in the area of the command center of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The extent of any destruction is not yet known and the American officials has yet to issue a statement.
Regional Interceptions
In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - which all house American military installations - reported they have shot down missiles in their air space.
In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence said it had intercepted several missiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.
Iran's Declared Retaliation
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard declared it was targeting US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the offensive on the Islamic Republic launched by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.
That initial attack - launched at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far struck areas linked to the Tehran's leadership, with US President Donald Trump encouraging the people of Iran to rise up against the regime.
Wider Impacts
In Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israeli military said it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates announced that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses responded to the missiles with high efficiency and successfully intercepted a series of missiles," the statement continued.
The statement noted debris landed in a neighborhood in Abu Dhabi, causing some structural damage and fatalities.
The US Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
