The British player advanced to round three in three Grand Slam tournaments major tournaments this year.

The British tennis star Emma Raducanu will not compete in her final two events in 2025 as a result of the illness that has affected her in recent days.

The 22-year-old had planned to participate in events in Asia but opted to return home to regain her health ahead of launching plans for the 2026 season.

Her upcoming training will include her coach Francisco Roig, as both individuals will keep partnering in 2026.

Raducanu had her blood pressure taken while playing the initial match versus Ann Li in Wuhan last week and retired when trailing 6-1 4-1 on an oppressively humid day.

Another medical visit was necessary medical attention at this week's Ningbo Open, where she was defeated in three sets to Chinese wildcard Zhu Lin in the opening round.

Raducanu was also moving noticeably restricted in the final set against Zhu owing to a lower back issue that has affected her on several occasions in 2025.

These outcomes meant an encouraging season, in which she climbed into the international top 30 after a long gap in more than three years, concluded with three straight losses.

Raducanu had three match points then was defeated by Pegula in the third round in Beijing last month.

The player achieved twenty-eight matches this year and reached the semi-finals in the Washington tournament, but her standout performance was at the Miami Open in March.

The British number one advanced to the quarters of this WTA 1000 tournament, beating eighth seed Emma Navarro during the tournament before losing in three sets to fourth-ranked Pegula.

She worked with trainer Mark Petchey from the Miami event through Wimbledon, with Francisco Roig stepping in for the US Open.

The initial agreement with Rafael Nadal's former coach was until the end of the season but the partnership will continue, with a training session scheduled for the end of the year.

Raducanu told that her three-day trial with Roig after Wimbledon was like a "secret mission" as the meeting was kept under wraps.

The player was close to defeating top-ranked Aryna Sabalenka at their first tournament together in Cincinnati in August.

Roig joined her in New York, where she advanced to round three before being beaten by Rybakina, champion at Wimbledon in 2022.
