The second-hand marketplace Users Voice Frustration Regarding Sizing Changes
Members of the platform have expressed outrage due to a modification that led to items being listed as the wrong size.
The popular resale platform has revised its size classifications for female and kids' apparel without notifying all users about the change.
Online Platforms Backlash
Numerous buyers and vendors have taken to social media claiming that product pages now present an altered size classification than originally posted because of the remapping.
The company said the updated approach better aligns with other platforms.
They have suggested members to check their listings and manually change the size when needed, resulting in member annoyance.
Measurement Approach Updates
Earlier, the sizing featured numerical and alphabetical indicators, like S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes an alphabetical indicator and numerical range for example S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the measurements have been reclassified - such as a large size used to be a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
Shopper Experiences
A fashion influencer, who produces content about larger sizing, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
A different member, based in Glasgow, said garments she listed featuring size 14 markings were displaying on the service as measurements 20-22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they're going to be very disappointed," she explained.
Required Changes
Charlotte Lunn, from Derby, explained she became annoyed because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizing for "all her products".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, since I have chronic health issues and selling on Vinted has been paramount after experiencing income reduction," she explained.
Platform Context
The platform boasts over 100 million shoppers, including 18 million in the UK.
It has proved a popular alternative versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This represents another occasion where an unanticipated change on the platform has faced criticism: previously, the platform withdrew an update to its shipping options due to shopper criticism.
